The carpet layer

A carpet layer is fitting some new carpet for an old lady.

After several hours work, he is finished and feels in his pocket for a packet of cigarettes, only to discover that they are not there.

Looking down the hall he sees a lump in the carpet.

Not wanting to pull it all up, he decides to flatten the packet with his hammer and no one will be the wiser

He is just finished when the old lady comes in.
